The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Collin Valcourt, the Mallards announced today.

Valcourt, 22, scored two goals and picked up two assists in 29 games with Hradec Kralove in the Czech Extraliga last season.  The 6’ 1”, 220-pound Red Deer, Alberta, native saw his first professional action when he played a single American Hockey League game for the Abbotsford Heat at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.

“Collin has very good size and good hockey sense.  He’s a physical player who can score from the left wing and can also stand up for himself and his teammates,” said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski.  “A junior coach who coached against him told me to get him if you have the chance to get him and that’s something I’m not told too often.”

Valcourt spent four years in the major junior Western Hockey League before turning pro.  He capped off his junior career by scoring 28 goals and notching 44 assists for 72 points in 71 games with the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders in 2013-14.  In total, Valcourt produced 78 goals, 92 assists and 170 points in 298 WHL games with the Blades, Raiders and Spokane Chiefs.

The Mallards will begin their nineteenth season- and their second in the ECHL- on the road against the defending champion Allen Americans on Friday, October 16 before returning to the Quad Cities to play their home opener on Friday, October 23 at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers.  Mallards 2015-16 season tickets are now available.  Season ticket holders enjoy significant savings of the walk-up ticket price and receive a host of exclusive benefits.  For more season ticket information, fans can contact the Mallards at 309-277-1364 or info@myqcmallards.com.
