The Quad City Mallards have signed forwards Mason Bohlinger and Patrick McCadden and defenseman Mike Baird to tryout agreements, the Mallards announced today.  The club also announced its roster for today’s opening of training camp.

Bohlinger, 25, spent the last four seasons at Davenport University in Michigan.  The 6’ 1”, 181-pound Grand Rapids, Michigan, native scored 12 goals and added 20 assists for 32 points in 39 American Collegiate Hockey Association games last year.  He averaged a point per game over the course of his college career, recording 64 goals, 94 assists and 158 points in 158 outings.

McCadden, 26, scored six times, picked up ten assists and notched 16 points while piling up 99 penalty minutes in 55 games with the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Columbus Cottonmouths as a rookie last season.  The 6’ 0”, 174-pound Chesterfield, Missouri, product turned professional after completing his college career at Division III powerhouse St. Norbert by scoring six goals and collecting seven assists for 13 points in 32 games in 2013-14.  As a junior McCadden helped the Green Knights to the 2013 NCAA title.  He transferred to St. Norbert in 2012 after two seasons at Michigan Tech.

Before stepping into the collegiate ranks McCadden played three seasons of junior hockey with the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League and Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League.

Baird, 25, got his first taste of pro hockey at the end of last season when he registered a pair of assists in ten games with the SPHL’s Fayetteville FireAntz.  The 5’ 11”, 185-pound native of Oakville, Ontario, joined the FireAntz immediately after completing his senior season at Utica College, where he provided one goal and seven assists last season.  He registered five goals, 29 assists and 34 points in 102 career collegiate games.

As a sophomore Baird helped the Pioneers reach the 2013 Division III Frozen Four and claim the Eastern College Athletic Conference West regular season title.  Utica and Baird took the ECAC West regular season crown again the following season.

The addition of this trio brings to 13 the number of players on the Mallards’ roster for the start of camp.  Forwards Bohlinger, McCadden, Anthony Collins, Pearce Eviston, Cody Fidgett, Patrick McCadden, Logan Nelson, Vladimir Nikiforov and Charlie Taft are joined by defensemen Baird, Kevin Gibson and Darren McMillan, forward/defenseman Nick Grasso and goaltender Adam Morrison.
