The Quad City Mallards' Brody Hoffman has been named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, the Mallards announced today in conjunction with the ECHL.

Hoffman, a 25-year old rookie, stopped 74 of 76 shots while backstopping the Mallards to a pair of victories last weekend. After making 30 saves in a 3-1 home win over the Evansville IceMen last Friday, Hoffman set a career high and a team season high by turning aside 44 shots one night later in the Mallards’ 4-1 defeat of the Thunder in Wichita. The 6’ 4”, 195-pound Wilkie, Saskatchewan native made 22 saves in the third period alone last Saturday and came within three minutes and 23 seconds of his first career shutout. Hoffman recorded a 1.00 goals against average and a .974 save percentage for the weekend.

Hoffman has gone 16-16-1 and posted a 2.89 goals against average and a .906 save percentage in 35 games this season. He was assigned to the Mallards by the American Hockey League’s Iowa Wild on October 21.

Hoffman last season went 13-6-2 while posting a superb 2.06 goals against average, a sterling .922 save percentage and one shutout in 22 games for the University of Vermont. Hoffman finished his Catamount career second in school history in goals against average (2.45) and save percentage (.914). Hoffman went 34-33-9 with three shutouts in 78 games over three collegiate seasons. As a sophomore he helped UVM to a berth in the 2014 NCAA tournament. Hoffman was also named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team in both 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Before arriving in Burlington, Hoffman played all or part of four seasons in the junior ranks for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League and the Nipawin Hawks and- briefly- Notre Dame Hounds- of the Saskatchewan Hockey League.

Hoffman joins Steve Michalek- who earned the honor for the period ending November 22- as the second Mallard this season to be named ECHL Goaltender of the Week and becomes the fourth Mallard to earn a league-wide recognition this season after Mike Monfredo was named ECHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 6 and Michalek not only won Goaltender of the Week in November but was also named October ECHL Rookie of the Month.

The Mallards visit the Wichita Thunder tonight at 7:05 p.m. The Mallards next play on home ice Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. Friday also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.
