Lavelle joined the Mallards after serving as the director of media relations and broadcasting for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League (USHL).
Prior to arriving in Cedar Rapids Lavelle spent two years with the Billings Bulls of the America West Hockey League. He served as the Bulls' director of public relations while also acting as the team's radio broadcaster.
Originally from the Boston area, Lavelle is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
