Wilson scored 13 goals and added eight assists for 21 points in 28 games at the University of British Columbia last season. He was named a 2013-14 Second Team Canada West Universities Athletic Association All-Star after finishing tied for fifth in all of Canadian university hockey and tied for second in the CWUAA in goals (18) and finishing tied for fourth in the conference in points (35).  Wilson led the CWUAA and finished tied for ninth in the nation in goals (16) in 2012-13.  He totaled 49 goals, 37 assists and 86 points in 91 career games as a Thunderbird.

Wilson played four seasons in the junior ranks for the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Camrose Kodiaks, the British Columbia Hockey League’s Westside Warriors and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Flin Flon Bombers before arriving at UBC.  He capped off his junior career by helping Camrose to the 2011 AJHL finals and competing with the host Kodiaks in the 2011 Royal Bank Cup, Canada’s national Junior A championship.
